Written representation in relation to Agenda item 14 – Motions on Notice – Protecting York’s Independent Patient Voice – Healthwatch
We wish to express our full support for the motion put forward by Councillor Steels-Walshaw regarding Healthwatch York.
As volunteer representatives of the organisation, we strongly endorse the vital role that Healthwatch plays in providing an independent voice for the residents of York. Through our involvement in visiting care homes across York and the surrounding areas, we have witnessed first-hand the value of the information gathered. These visits, along with our engagement with management teams, have enabled us to gain a deeper understanding of the breadth of services that Healthwatch provides.
Healthwatch York maintains an extensive portfolio of work, which is clearly communicated through its website. Its overarching aim is to gather insight into people’s lived experiences and to use this information to inform and improve health and social care services.
We unequivocally support the work undertaken by Healthwatch. The loss of these services would represent a significant detriment to the comunity.
